Jersey Reds Athletic are taking on the most southerly Marathon in the British Isles. On the 28th February they will head south with Jersey Seafaris to the Minquiers. The marathon will take place on the sandbanks which are only revealed on the biggest low tides for a limited time. This will be a race against the tide on soft sand - can we do it?! The lads will have to keep a constant pace to complete within 4hrs 30 mins. But the sand is soft and wet, this won’t be easy!!
As soon as the banks are uncovered the race will start, the course will get bigger and bigger until the tide is low, at low tide there will be about 2/3km of sand - so lots of back and forth.
A team of 5 forwards vs 5 backs each taking it in turns to run the distance - tide waits for no one!!!!!
