We provide tailored help and practical support to local cancer patients and their families, from the first diagnosis through their treatment journey.
At FOJO, we strive to make the words ‘you require cancer treatment’ less frightening and overwhelming. Thanks to ongoing support from local businesses, volunteers and supporters, we’re able to make a real difference every day to the lives of Jersey cancer patients and their families and carers.
Since 2012, we have been supporting Jersey’s Oncology Unit with practical resources, designed to help patients who are undergoing treatment. We’re a team of volunteers, from hospital staff and supporters to ex-patients who understand how challenging the cancer journey can seem. Our aim is to make your experience easier, in any way we can.
When I started my treatment, I was given my FOJO pack. It’s your chemo essentials, but it’s a really nice touch. You instantly feel as if you’re not going through this on your own, people have thought about how to make it easier
How We Help
FOJO are able to help in a number of different ways. Here are a few of the things we aim to provide for our patients:
01
A FOJO care pack designed to provide patients with practical products, personal care items and information to help with chemotherapy treatments and potential side effects.
02
Wig vouchers for those experiencing hair loss.
03
Support with childcare and nursery fees.
04
Practical assistance with travel expenses.
05
A ‘Helping Hand’ grant to support patients.
06
‘Treat into Treatment’ vouchers to provide patients with a treat at the end of their treatment.
07
Cold caps for patients, designed to help prevent hair loss during chemotherapy.
08
A 12-week exercise and nutrition programme available to support patients with all types of cancer.
09
Our fundraising has paid for tech equipment at the unit to allow video conferencing with UK-based doctors, alleviating the need for travel.
10
We raise funds for additional nursing resources and training courses to maintain expert knowledge and timely care.
FOJO also provide specialised care and support based upon each patients ‘individual needs.’

What’s in the FOJO care packs?
Our care packs contain practical items to make patients’ lives easier. They include a thermometer, blanket, hand cream, parking paycards, lip balm, pill packets, note pads, mints, £150 wig voucher, £50 ‘Put a Treat into Treatment’ voucher and post-treatment vouchers to promote recovery and well-being.
At Jersey’s Oncology Unit
We’ve furnished a quiet room at the Oncology Unit for patients to use. There’s a library of helpful books, a vein finder machine, plus access to fast wi-fi, iPads and computers to allow video conferencing with UK-based doctors and alleviate the need for some patients to travel to the UK.

Additional Resources
As well as supporting nursing resources and training, FOJO provides additional support for some patients as recommended by the Oncology team.
