Minerva Sponsor our Treat into Treatment scheme

As part of Minerva’s Legacy project the company chose to support two local charities for it’s 2015/2016 Fund raising efforts.   This year’s proceeds will be split between Friends of Jersey Oncology (FOJO) and Jersken a charity recently set up to support orphans in Kenya.

Launched in 2013 in celebration of the milestone birthdays of Minerva’s two founding shareholders, Vipin M.P. Shah and Umesh Sahai, the Minerva Legacy Project aims to create a positive, long term and sustainable impact on the communities that continue to play a significant role for the business.

The money raised for FOJO has been used to provide vouchers to patients who are about to embark on chemotherapy treatment.  The initiative known as ‘Treat into Treatment’ was set up earlier this year and with Minerva’s support the Oncology Unit was able to offer these vouchers.  Gifts included manicures, meal vouchers and spa vouchers.

In order to raise the money needed to support both charities Minerva held a number of fundraising campaigns over a 12 month period, these included an auction, Christmas raffle, regular fancy dress down days, bake offs, a soup kitchen, staff breakfasts , mojo for fojo, and a ping pong challenge.

We are delighted to have been able to support both Friends of Jersey Oncology and Jersken.  Our Legacy Project fundraising campaign is something we are very proud of as it has given our staff the opportunity to raise the money required for specific initiatives.  This is highlighted in our work with FOJO  as we have been able to show our support to those affected with cancer,  it might only be a relatively small ‘treat’ but we know, from the patients feedback, how much of a difference this can make to them during and following treatment.’ Steven Bowen, Group Managing Director of Minerva Trust & Corporate Services Limited

Give Us a Wave is happening again on 13th/14th July 2013

Give us A Wave is happening again on 13/14 July 2013 – see their Facebook page or call Little Joe’s on 483707 for further information.

Give Us a Wave

“Give Us a Wave” was FOJO’s first fundraising event in July 2012 organised by Joe Davies of Little Joe’s Surf Shop, St Ouen’s. This was a really well attended event held over three days with school children to grandparents taking part!  It involved teams of 4/5 people (fancy dress optional) to go and bodyboard in the surf in relays.

The nurses in the Unit decided to organise a cake stall and raffle on the day and this was really well supported by patients and their families baking cakes and coming down on the day.

A magnificent sum of £6,761 was raised!
